RE-ELECTED World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman of Mexico deserves his re-election according to ring officials from the Philippines and Thailand.

“Mauricio Sulaiman deserved to be re-elected again since he did a good job and he is so dedicated to WBC and all the board supported him,” said Kiate Sirigul, a member of the Board of Governors in the Asian Boxing Council and WBC Muaythai from Thailand.

Sirigul, who is also the founder of the Boxing Anti-Drugs (BAD) and Ambassador of the WBC Cares Thailand, is one of the Asian ring officials attending the WBC 54th Annual Convention at the Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida, USA.

Also present is Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Khalil “Baham” Mitra of the Philippines.

“Mauricio Sulaiman’s re-election is a given as he was very active and involved during his father’s time,” said Mitra, who was also appointed as international secretary by Sulaiman.

Mitra, who is attending the convention for the first time also spoke and thanked the WBC for “a very efficient and eventful convention.”

He asked the crowd for a round of applause, which was gladly given.

Mitra, a former elected governor and congressman of Palawan, also personally relayed his invitation to Sulaiman and the Board of Governos to attend the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Convention next year in Manila.

“More importantly I formally express our intention to host the WBC convention in 2018,” said Mitra.

International boxing promoter Brico Santig of Highlands Boxing Promotions from La Trinidad, Benguet said Sulaiman deserves to be re-elected for his good job at the WBC.

“He’s OK and he really deserves to be re-elected,” said Santig, who even brought his family to the convention.

“As of now, no one can replace Sulaiman for the position,” added  Santig.
