Mpho Seforo (5-0, 2 KOs) won the vacant Gauteng light flyweight title when he beat Percy Mkhize (8-2, 4 KOs) on a ten round majority points decision at the Centenary Hall on Saturday night in Krugersdorp, Gauteng Province, South Africa. The scores were 97-92, 95-93 and 94-94.
In a closely fought contest, Seforo (48.96 kg) using his height and reach advantages piled up the points with stiff jabs to the head throughout. A left-right combination sent Mkhize (48.94 kg) down for a count in the third round and even though he fought back in the later rounds it was not enough to take the decision.
This was a rematch with Seforo winning a six round split decision on July 31 this year.
