The UFC have tabbed Stevie Ray to take on Kajan Johnson at UFC London.
Last week, Johnson tweeted that the Scot had stepped up after his original opponent, Rustam Khabilov, withdrew from the card due to injury. Sources have confirmed to MMA Fighting that the fight is a done deal.
Former Cage Warriors champion Ray (21-7-0) has been stuck in limbo following a first-round loss to Paul Felder in Glasgow at UFC Fight Night 113.
Having opted to test free agency instead of re-signing with the promotion ahead of the Felder bout, Ray claimed that he would consider retirement if he didn’t get offered a fight at the London event. Seven months from his last trip to the Octagon, “Braveheart” has secured a new deal with the UFC.
Johnson (22-12-1) is currently riding a three-fight winning streak with the promotion. After scoring decision wins over Lipeng Zhang and Naoyuki Kotani, he put an exclamation point on his victory over Adriano Martins with a third-round TKO at UFC 215.
