DAVAO CITY – International Boxing Federation World minimumweight champion Pedro “Kid Pedro Heneral” Taduran Jr. (14W-2L-1D, 11KOs). of Albay is now in Gen. Santos City together with his team for his title defense against Rene Mark Cuarto (18W-2L-2D, 11KOs) of Zamboanga del Norte.
The 24-year-old Taduran arrived with his trainer former world champion Tacy Macalos, assistant trainer Romeo Monis, manager Vilama Acosta and matchmaker Art Monis.
They are staying at Pearl Suite’s Hotel.
“OK naman ang timbang di pa kami nag bawas maintain lang (The weight is OK, we haven’t lost weight yet, just maintain), said Art Monis.
Monis said: “Malayo pa naman ang laban (The battle is still far away)”.
Taduran has not seen Cuarto in person yet for the opponent is still in Davao City. Taduran’s weight is still 52 kg.
“Jogging lang kanina pahinga muna, bukas ulit (Just jog before rest first, tomorrow again)”, said Monis.
Taduran is expected to reach the 48 kg. before the day of the fight on Feb. 27 at the Bula Gym. It will be his second title defense.
The boxing is promoted by Sen. Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions.
