Nine Martial Arts will be included in this year’s 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), also known as the 6th AIMAG to be held in Bangkok and Chonburi. The games will commence on May 21 and will wrap up on the 31st.
Bangkok was officially awarded the hosting rights in April of 2020 by the Olympics Council of Asia.
All 9 Martial Arts, Ju-jitsu, Karate, Kickboxing, Kurash, Muaythai, Pencak silat, Sambo, Taekwondo and Wrestling will see action at Chonburi. It will be the first Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be co-hosted by two cities/provinces; the Thai capital city of Bangkok which will host the games for the third time after hosting the inaugural edition of the said games in 2005 and the Martial Arts edition in 2009 and the province of Chonburi which is 100 kilometers Southwest of Bangkok. This will also be a test event for both Bangkok and Chonburi Province as they will be hosting the 2030 Summer Youth Olympic Games also. This will host the highest number of sports in the history of the games, at a total of 29 games with two demonstration sports.
