Thousands of fans in the Philippines and around the world expressed their sympathies as earlier news of Donaire’s positive Covid test was announced thus resulting in the pulling out of the Filipino pugilist in his supposed WBC title bout against Puerta Rican Emmanuel Rodriguez.
According to his Father Nonito Donaire Sr., Nonito’s confirmatory test came back negative. Nonito asked the promotion for a confirmatory test to be conducted just to make sure the test was indeed positive but was denied by the promotion and so he had paid one to be conducted. The result then came back negative. Donaire even posted the result in one of his social media accounts, as his wife also posted a lengthy narration of what the family has been doing to have that 100% result. Mrs. Rachel Donaire stated that Nonito got two negative COVID-19 Qualitative NAAT Test from Quest and 1 alleged positive requested by Baker Street Health while Nonito got a negative result again for COVID-19 QUALITATIVE NAAT Tests that the family paid for.
Reymart Gaballo is reported to replace Nonito Donaire in Clash vs Emmanuel Rodriguez for the WBC Bantamweight Crown.
