WBC Cares which helps children and others in need, is established and working in many countries, lending a  hand, a shoulder and showing our reach equals the capacity of our collective heart.

Here is a history of what has been happening, working and leading to triumph in the magnificent country of Thailand, where Kiate Sirigul is our much-admired Coordinator. We asked Kiate:

When and how did WBC Cares Thailand get established and how did you become involved to play your key role?

WBC Cares just celebrated fifteen years since the establishment of this beautiful campaign leaded by our dearest Dr. Jose Sulaiman and Jill Diamond, who inspired the project and

started the first activity at the Children Hospital accompanying by Erik Morales and Genaro Hernandez. After this first operating year, Miss Jill Diamond had her assignment to supervise the fight in Thailand and The first activity of WBC Cares in Thailand was established in 2007. I invited our former WBC Muaythai World Champion Lamsongkram, and Jill Diamond paid a visit to Ban Kru Noi Orphanage Foundation. Gen Kovid kindly donated the funds for the lunch and Jill had gave away many of the mini gloves from REYES Boxing Gear.

As we realized that the project will be last longer than a normal mission, Gen Kovid assigned me as the person in charge for the project which we kept moving with several visits to the sick children in the hospitals and we participate the National Children Day as Thailand scheduled to this special day at the first Saturday of every year. Except the two last year 2020 and 2021 because of the Pandamic Covid 19.

Since our WBC Cares campaign was well recognized by the Champions and Boxing community, it was not difficult at all for my personal contacts to ask for help from the community. I used the local social media to publicize the activities to gain continuous support.

During the Pandamic Covid 19, our member of WBC Cares and some Gyms started humanitarian acts to donate and give away food and drinking water to the low income and Homeless people who was badly affected by the crisis.

What are the main focuses? Children and inmates of prisons are prominent in your events and stories?

I remembered that when we first established WBC Cares, our main task is to invite the Boxing Champions to visit the children in the hospitals or health cares centers which is not too complicated and no need to have many participants since the hospital cannot allow

outsiders in the patient’s ward.

We just did it with courtesy visit at the side beds with give and certificate to motivate and  impulse their encouragement to recovery.

The mission needs commitment to keep helping the people in need.

Likewise the request for donation of boxing gear and Sports equipment for  prisoners who need some recreations and exercise. The most important part is to show them that the outside world will have forgiveness and opportunity for the good persons to embrace with love and cares of their family.

What do the children and people who you help tell you and advise you? The feedback.

There is so much feedback from our activities, not only from the children or the people we

help because for them they would be happy with anyone who shows kindness and cares to donate. As there are so many organizations and foundations who showed good will, intention for sacrifice and share the kindness. My personal point of view is that I need to open the opportunity for all the Boxing Socials and communities to join the WBC Cares to show the passion of the humanity to help the people or children. I always conduct stress that without our members I cannot do this humanitarian act alone and I need all of the participants to keep our ripple effect of care and kindness to the people in need.

How have the tremendous Thai champions and former/forever champions been able to help?

I am very lucky who was surrounded by the good people and most of the Champions. They realized my sincere attitude and my past experiences with Boxing.I invited them to join with voluntary mission and I told them that I work on the small operating fund and the fund I made from Selling T Shirts of merchandise raising funds. I mostly paid the car allowance for those who came from far away. Chatchai is the first one who declined to accept this money and confirm he is always ready to help.

I remembered a long time ago when I had my private meeting with Dr. Jose Sulaiman and told him the way I run my WBC Cares.

He said to me that the WBC Cares is the small project which need to be managed by a

BIG Hearted person.

How has General Kovid been able to coordinate the efforts alongside you Kiate? This Kind Gentleman who always extends his generosity and has guided us in the good direction. He realized what I did for WBC Cares is the correct direction. I honor him as the leader of WBC Cares in Thailand. Unfortunately he cannot currently attend the activities due to health reasons which I really hope will be resolved.

What impact has WBC Cares had in Thailand?

Thailand are Buddhist country, the majority of the people show their respect and homage to the main religion. So many of the organizations and foundations help. WBC Cares helps channel boxing social considerations and enable people to develop better lives. Lately we joined with Sityodthong Muay Thai Gym to host a luncheon.

We learned that they are also financial need because of the children scholarship and education from the government because of poverty. Child Abuse must stop and we need to eliminate this silent CRIME.

A lot has already been achieved. What remains to be done?

I am so graceful for your question and start to realize that after 14 years of WBC Cares in Thailand, many of the activities had been completed i.e. HERO of Humanity, Safe Gym, Milk for the School in Rural Area and many more.

It is an endless task. My assignment and mission is to encourage and enjoy the wisdom of WBC Cares.

You know how to publicize the activities that are the key. in order to increase more support and also to invite more participants and open the doors wider. I have very few of these skills, but I learn from friends so as to create articles and promote WBC Cares.

What satisfaction does helping via WBC Cares give you Kiate?

Most of the mission is for the children. If they gain we gain.
