Super welterweight Arnel Tinampay of the Philippines mixed it up with Idd Pialari of Tanzania but still lose by a majority decision last Nov. 28 in Tanzania.
The 36-year old Tinampay even downed Pialari in the 7th round but was called it a slip by the referee only.
“Laging naka yakap ang kalaban at binigyan ko sa tagiliran, natumba pero wala pa rin bilang na binigay,” (The opponent was always hugged and I gave it to the side, fell down but still no number was given) said Tinampay.
Tinampay was ready to accept his victory but was only disappointed when Pialari was announced the winner.
Three judges saw it for Pialari at 78-74, 78-74, and 79-72.
Meanwhile, lightweight Eduardo Mancito of Jose Abad Santos also lost by a unanimous decision to Salimu Jengo of Tanzania in the undercard.
But the bout was declared a title fight in the World Boxing Union despite the earlier non-agreement by Mancito, who did not sign the papers.
Mancito did not agree to only receive an additional $200 to fight it a WBU world title fight. But he was surprised when it was announced on the ring that it be a title fight and they fight for 12 rounds.
“Wala naman title fight contract” (There is no title fight contract), said Mancito.
Mancito and Coach Alan Alegria will leave early Monday while Tinampay will follow after his fight was already finished at 4 a.m.
“Uwi na sila coach Alan at Mancito ngayon, at ako bukas pa ng gabi,” (Coach Alan and Mancito are home today, and I am tomorrow night), said Tinampay.
Tinampay and Mancito both still have to receive the complete payment from the promoter Semunyu Selamani.
“Show was not good so I have to find another option to cover the rest which we remain after calculation with your Philippines guy we cannot do extra and I told the commission to wave 2% because of the exceed of the round,” said Selamani
The promoter still has a balance of US dollar $1,000 to Mancito and $300 to Tinampay.
Manager Brico Santig is planning to file a formal complaint if the promoter will not settle his obligation.
“Because at first, it was only a $2,000 USD contract, then the world title UBO according to Filipino translator Edzel Buenaventura in Tanzania to add $1,000 to be $3,000 in total,” said Santig.
“Pero umuwi sila Mansito na ang pera ay less than $2000 USD kasi ang binayad African money,”, (But they went home Mansito with the money less than $ 2000 USD because the African money was paid), said Santig.
