FILIPINO boxer Nelson Tinampay and his veteran Korean opponent Yong Soo Choi both made their weight today (Feb. 4) for their title championship fight tomorrow for the interim WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council lightweight title at the Hilton Hotel in Seoul, South Korea.

Tinampay and Yong both tipped the scales at 135 lbs. at the official weigh-in also held at the Hilton Hotel.

The official weigh-in was supervised by the WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council led by Executive Secretary Won Kim in coordination with the Korean Boxing Management headed by its president John Hwang.

“Maganda ang condition ni Nelson. Huwag lang siyang magkumpiyansa sa kalaban kasi beterano,” said Tinampay’s trainer Victor Man-on of the Leonil Lazarito Stable from Bukidnon.

The 24-year old Tinampay (11-3-1-5 KOs) is also accompanied by international matchmaker Brico Santig of Highlands Promotions.

Tinampay previously stopped Rey dela Cruz in the 2nd round by a technical knockout last October 9 in Bohol. Tinampay also fought but lost for the WBC Youth World super lightweight title via a unanimous decision against Baishanbo Nasiyiwula last year in China.

The 44-year old Yong (11-3-1-5 KOs) made a successful comeback by scoring an 8th round TKO win against Japan’s Kazuya Nakano last April 16 in South Korea.
