By Eugene Nepangue

LAS VEGAS — Some of the biggest names in broadcasting, local and foreign, will be in press row when People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao attmepts to seize the WBO welterweight belt from Jessie Vargas Satruday night (Sunday AM in the Philippines) at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Headlining the decorated journalists cast is Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, who will call the bout on pay-per-view alongside Brian Kenny. Smith, who hosts the popular First Take show, made the rounds on Radio Row prior to Friday’s weigh-in at the Wynn Hotel.

Bill Velasco from the Philippines is also here working on multi-media platforms. Velasco is a sports columnist for the Philippine Star and hosts a sports talk show for ABS-CBN.

Among the sports scribes who usually cover Pacquiao fights have also made their way to Sin City — Nick Giongco of the Manila Bulletin and Tempo, Ray Luarca of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Dino Maragay and Abac Cordero of the Philippine Star. TV giants ABS-CBN and GMA-7 are also represented.

What would a Pacquiao fight be without Michael Buffer? It’s not the same so the man who made the line “Let’s get ready to rumble!!!!” is here. (EP)
