TWO separate Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) female titles are up for grabs on November 10 at the Puerto Princesa City Gym in Palawan.
International boxing promoter Brico Santig of Highland Boxing Promotions said that Japan’s Erika Hanawa (7W-1L-0D) is fighting Thailand’s Sornsawan Khunmam (2W-4L-0D) for the vacant OPBF Female minimumweight title.
Japan’s Yuko Henzan (5W-6L-3D) and Thailand’s Phannaluk Kongsang (2W-3L-0D) are also fighting but for the vacant OPBF Female bantamweight crown.
Both pairs will clash for 8 rounds.
“We might have a total of five championships. But it will still be finalized this week,” said Santig.
The boxing card is part of the annual 55th OPBF Annual Convention in Palawan.
The 27-year old Hanawa lost her last fight when he fought for the vacant WBO World Female minimumweight title by a unanimous decision against Kayoko Ebata last May 19 at the Korakuen Hall in Japan.
Last year, Hanawa won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental Female minimumweight crown via a unanimous decision against Filipina Christine Latube in Mandaluyong.
Khunmam, 21, on the other hand, also dropped her previous outing to Chaoz Minowa by a 2nd round technical knockout last May 19 also at Korakuen Hall.
Meanwhile, the 30-year old Henzan won her last three fights including her previous fight against Jutamas Jitpong by a majority decision last Sept. 10 at the University of the Ryukyus in Nakagani.
Kongsang, on the other hand, also won her last two fights. The 22-year old Kongsang previously scored a unanimous decision against Saranyaphong Theinthong at the RAM 100 Thai Boxing Stadium in Bangkok last Sept. 30. (LITO DELOS REYES)
