UFC Singapore results: Next matches to make for ‘Cowboy vs Edwards’ main card winners

Paul Miller-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the hurt business last night (Sat., June 23, 2018) for UFC Fight Night 132 from inside Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore, which was headlined by a Welterweight bout which saw Leon Edwards bust up and outlast Donald Cerrone for a unanimous decision win (see it). In the co-main event, Ovince Saint Preux scored a first round, come-from-behind submission win over Tyson Pedro.

Winner: Leon Edwards

Who He Should Fight Next: Jorge Masvidal

I love it when a fighter calls someone out after a win, it makes the matchmaking so much easier. And for the most part, the UFC higher-ups listen and oblige, unless it’s an unwarranted title shot. After “Rocky” took out “Cowboy” in Singapore, he took to the mic to call for a fight against Jorge Masvidal. And much to the delight of Edwards, Masvidal accepted the bout, which means it’s now all on Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard. I really like this fight as both men come to bang it out on the feet, which means we could be in for a barn-burner.

Winner: Ovince Saint Preux

Who He Should Fight Next: Jan Blachowicz

Jan is current riding a three fight win streak and “OSP” is back in the win column. Surprisingly, these two men have never fought one another, but do have several opponent in common. Jan is currently ranked a few spots ahead of Ovince, and when you look at the 205-pound landscape, there really isn’t anyone else the makes sense for either man that that they haven’t already defeated, lost to or is in line for a shot at the strap.

Winner: Jessica Eye

Who She Should Fight Next: Lauren Murphy

Sure, Lauren is coming off a loss, but she is ranked higher than Eye at the moment and a win over her would be good for “Evil.” Not only will it help her climb the rankings, but it will show she’s ready to start fighting and defeating the top caliber fighters currently residing at 125 pounds. Plus, everyone else ahead of Jessica is currently booked at the moment, Eye looked good against Jessica Rose-Clark, and I’d like to see he ride this wave against a tougher foe.

Winner: Li Jingliang

Who He Should Fight Next: Dong Hyun Kim

Kim hasn’t competed since getting dominated by current interim Welterweight champion Colby Covington a year ago, which ironically enough was also in Kallang, so he should be ready to mount a comeback. There really is no rhyme or reason for this matchup other than the fact that Li is trying his hardest to crack the top 15. so who better to fight that the guy holding the final spot in the division?
