Yordenis Ugás continues to receive recognition for his great victory on August 21st against Manny Pacquiao and for his great behavior both inside and outside the ring. The Welterweight Super Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) received the Keys to the City of Miami by the mayor, Francis Suárez, on Tuesday.

On the same day that Ugás received his new belt from the pioneer organization and showed it through his social media with the pride of a black and gold champion, he also went to a city that is very important to him and to all Cubans to meet with the Mayor and be part of a beautiful event for Cuban boxing.

“It is a great honor for me that the most important city for Cubans outside of Cuba, the city that has given protection, freedom and rights to Cubans, is recognizing me as a good representative of this community”, said the 35-year-old fighter on his social media.

Ugás thanked that his sporting merits are not the only ones taken into account for this type of event, but also his fight outside the ring for the rights and freedom of his compatriots.

“I am even more proud to know that this recognition is not only for being a champion, but also for being a fighter for the freedom of my country. I dedicate this Key to the City to Cubans seeking freedom in Cuba, but also to Cubans in Miami”, he continued.

The WBA is proud to have a champion like Ugás and congratulates the 147-pound monarch for the success he is achieving in all areas of his life.
