Corrales and Warren are Super champions, while Sosa and McDonnell hold the standard belts.

Another day, another bunch of WBA unification bouts. According to ESPN, it’s the junior lightweights and bantamweights this time around, with Super champions Jezreel Corrales and Rau’shee Warren ordered to face regular titleholders Jason Sosa and Jamie McDonnell, respectively.

Corrales (20-1, 8 KO) and Sosa (19-1-4, 15 KO) ruined the planned showdown between Takashi Uchiyama and Javier Fortuna with a pair of stunning upset knockouts. Corrales obliterated Uchiyama with three knockdowns in the second round, while Sosa took out Fortuna in ten while down on the cards.

Down south, Warren (14-1, 4 KO) finally earned a world title last month with a majority decision over Juan Carlos Payano in their rematch, while McDonnell (28-2-1, 13 KO) won the belt against Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat in 2014 and has defended it four times. Two of those defenses came against Japanese young gun Tomoki Kameda in a pair of excellent bouts.

The WBA has also ordered Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KO), who earned the super lightweight title with a knockout of Michele di Rocco because boxing is stupid, to face mandatory challenger and Ricky Hatton protege Kiryl Relikh (21-0, 19 KO). The Belarusan is ranked #219 by Boxrec and will fight for a title because, again, boxing is stupid.

The first two matchups should be damn interesting, at the very least. Hope the teams in question manage to put everything together.
