Zhang and Wang Taking Dubai

Fightnews ASIA

DUBAI, U.A.E.  —  Tough Chinese boxers Zhang Zhaoxin (张兆鑫) and “Lion Heart” Wang LeQuan (王狮) feel strong and ready for their coming WBA ASIA title battles set for Saturday, August 26, in the ever shinning “City of Gold.” Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In the show’s main event, brave and big Zhang Zhaoxin (10-2-1, 6 KO’s) of Chengdu, the beautiful Capital City of spicy Sichuan Province, battles experienced world-ranked African tiger Rolly Lambert Fogoum (16-1-1, 12 KO’s), the fearsome warrior born in Bafoussam, Cameroon, for the vacant WBA ASIA Cruiserweight (90.71 kilos) Title.

The fight is the golden opportunity for the brave Zhang Zhaoxing to bounce back into the winning column after his failed world title challenge against then champion Ryad Merhy (31-2, 26 KO’s) one year ago in Brussels.

But the job will not be easy.

Will Zhang be able to win over a complicated enemy as Fogoum?

Because Fogoum  – who is not only a fight but also published writer and poet   –  has been scoring win after win, collecting important international titles, getting ranked in the IBF, as well as reaching a 14-fight winning streak.

That winning streak, the 34-year-old Fogoum wants to extend.    Will that happen?

The 10-round collision promises to be an all-out action war, in which Chinese fans hope that the taller Zhang (1.88 m) will be able to outbox and out-smart the confident and powerful Fogoum (1.80 m), one most dangerous fighter that Zhang has ever faced.

WANG LEQUANG CHALLENGES PHOOBADIN OF THAILAND

In the show’s co-main event, 23-year-old Wang LeQuang (8-0, 5 KO’s) challenges unbeaten 19-year-old WBA ASIA Super Lightweight (63.5 kilos) Champion Phoobadin Yoohanngoh (18-0, 10 KO’s) of Thailand, a promising world-ranked undefeated fighter with power in his fists.

“Wang vs Phoobadin: two young, glory-hungry, undefeated, powerful fighters, is another exciting battle that boxing fans in Dubai will surely enjoy, especially because of the potential of an end before the final bell.

Will the focused, well-trained Wang LeQuang  – who just last May scored an exciting round 1 knockout win in Bangkok  –   follow up with another stoppage win, this time over the world-ranked WBA # 9 Phoobadin, a fighter promoted by Thailand’s legendary Laosuwanwat boxing Family?

Or will it be the tough Phoobadin, trained by his own former fighter father, the one to teach the hard-hitting Wang LeQuang a boxing lesson while keeping his world-ranking and retaining his WBA ASIA title ?

Will Wang vs Phoobadin end up by KO?

THAILAND’S TEWA KIRAM DEFENDS AGAINST YAN MARCOS OF CUBA

In another WBA Asia title fight, Thailand’s world-ranked WBA # 15 Tewa Kiram (49-1, 34 KO’s) will defends his prestigious WBA ASIA Super Welterweight (69.85 kilos) against the fists of unbeaten slugger Yan Marcos (9-0, 6 KO’s) of Havanna, Cuba.

The stage is set, hot and ready for a thrilling evening of boxing in Dubai!

Magical Dubai, one of the world’s most thrilling destinations, is now not only a hub for tourism, gastronomy and shopping, but fast becoming a hub for sports and boxing.
