DAVAO CITY – WBO flyweight no. 1 contender Giemel “Pistolero” Magramo of Paranaque is still 10 pounds heavier than the required weight upon arriving in Japan last Oct. 21.
But he is confident he can make the required weight which is 112 lbs.
Right now, Magramo is still 122 lbs. which is two weeks away from the day of the fight (Nov. 6).
He has been doing the usual training but only in the Grand Palace Hotel.
Magramo arrived together with his manager Johnny Elorde, father/head trainer Melvin, assistant trainer Toto Laurente and Migs Elorde.
Magramo will also be fighting with an all-Japanese judges.
“Wala ako magagawa e desisyon nila yan,” (I can’t do that, they made that decision)said Magramo.
He will also fight a much taller opponent. Magramo is only 5’4 while Japanese Junto Nakatani, who is No. 3 contender is 5’8.
“Hindi naman kasi marami ako nakakalaban na puro matataas”, (It’s not because I have a lot of opponents who are very tall)said Magramo.
While Magramo is an orthodox fighter, Nakatani is a southpaw,
Magramo will not totally rely on his talent but also must pray to God.
“Hindi naman ako puede mag tiwala sa galling ko. Kailangan ko ring mag dasal at isama sa laban ko ang Panginoon,”
(I can’t trust my galling. I also need to pray and include the Lord in my fight) he said.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng sumosupporta ng laban ko”, (I thank all those who support my fight)
said Magramo.
