“FIST OF GLORY” DOUBLE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BACOLOD OCT. 20

A DOUBLE championship boxing card dubbed as the “Fist of Glory: Road to Glory” will be presented by the Naris-Monju-Mayor Bing Leonardia Boxing Development Program on October 20 at the SM City Bacolod parking area in Bacolod City.
“This is held in commemoration of the annual MassKara Festival in Bacolod,” said former Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Juan Ramon Guanzon.
Former world champion and now reigning Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) minimumweight champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo (26-4-1, 13KOs) will be defending his title against Crison “Cowboy” Omayao (22-14-4, 7KOs) of Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Sabillo, a former WBO World minimumweight title-holder, previously won the ABF title by knocking out in the 3rd round Indonesian Jack Amisa last May 27 in Bacolod.
The 24-year old Omayao, on the other hand, scored his last victory by a unanimous decision against Japanese Mako Matsuyama last May 13 in Hong Kong.
But in his previous outing, Omayao dropped a split decision to former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF minimumweight champion Armando dela Cruz last July 13 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The other title-fight is between Jayr Raquinel (7-0-1, 5KOs) and Richard Rosales (12-4-2, 7KOs) for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight crown.
Raquinel won his last fight infront of his fellow Bacolenos via a 6th round technical knockout against Elmer Liboon last May 27.
He had a split draw with Glenne Calacar in their LuzProBA light flyweight championship fight last February 11 in Mandaluyong.
Rosales also won his last fight by retiring Rey Morano in the 6th round last May 28 in Talibon. But before that, Rosales fought but lost to WBO Oriental flyweight champion Prasitsak Phaprom by a 6th round knockout in their title-fight last year in Thailand.
The “Fist of Glory” event will start at 2 p.m. featuring also the promising amateur boxers of Bacolod City.
