GADIONGCO FIGHTS THAI FOR VACANT WBC ASIAN BANTAM TITLE

BANGKOK, Thailand (Aug. 30) – Former WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council flyweight champion Macrea “The Barb Wire” Gadiongco of the Philippines and Suriyan Sor Rungvisai of Thailand will fight for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Confederation Council bantamweight title tomorrow August 31 in Patumtani here.

Both Gadiongco and Rungvisai tipped the scales at 118 lbs. in the official weigh-in today.

The title-fight is promoted by Suchat Pisit Puttinan in coordination with international promoter Brico Santig of Highland Promotions.

“Gagawin ko ang lahat upang makuha ang bakanteng korona (I will do all I can to get the vacant crown),” said the 24-year old Gadiongco.

Gadiongco has a record of 11 wins with three knockouts, 3 losses and 2 draws.

The native of Misamis Oriental previously lost by a knocked out to WBC Asian Boxing Council flyweight champion Nawaphon Kaikanha last May 19 at Watnernsai School in Klang, Rayong, Thailand.

Gadiongco won both the vacant WBC Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council and WBO Asia Pacific flyweight titles by stopping Jing Xiang by a 3rd round technical knockout at the EXPO Garden Hotel in Kunming, China last May 8, 2015.

But he was stripped of the titles for failing to defend them.

Gadiongco also fought for the interim PABA super flyweight title but only settled a technical draw with Buaphan Khamrang last March 23, 2015 at The Society Ayutthaya Resort in Ayutthaya, Thailand.

He also lost to Karoon Jarupianlerd by a 9th round knockout last November 8, 2014 in Thailand for the interim WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight title.

Gadiongco also lost by retirement to Luzuko Siyo in their battle for the vacant International Boxing Organization Inter-Continental light flyweight title last June 6, 2014 at the Orient Theatre in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
