Garcia vs. Fortuna shaping up

WBC Interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia and former champion Javier Fortuna will meet and compete in a WBC-ordered match.

This attractive fight will headline a Golden Boy Promotions event. The fight, which will be broadcast on DAZN, is scheduled for July, in either Las Vegas or Los Angeles, according to the sports portal The Athletic. If an agreement has been reached, the purse bid scheduled for April 16 will no longer take place.

Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) is coming off a January win over Luke Campbell, which was the toughest fight of the 22-year-old’s champ. Fortuna (36-2-1, 25 KOs), former super featherweight champion, has won three fights in a row since 2018.
