In a battle of southpaws, junior lightweight Orlando Cruz (24-4-1, 12 KOs) scored a knockout victory over Alex Valdez (26-8-2, 20 KOs) during round seven on Friday night at the Kissimmee Civic Center, Florida. The fighters traded punches throughout the fight. In round seven Cruz landed a hard uppercut on Valdez, knocking him down. Valdez was unable to recover and Cruz knocked him out cold with a devastating combo.
Flyweight Miguel Cartagena (15-3, 6 KOs) scored a first round technical knockout over Jobert Alvarez (15-2, 7 KOs). Cartagena knocked down Alvarez in round one. When Alvarez got back up Cartagena instantly jumped on him landing punch and punch, causing the referee to wave it off. Time was 1:07.
Lightweight Luis Olivarez (12-0, 8 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Efrain Cruz (4-1-1, 1 KO) over the course of six rounds. Scores were 60-54, 60-54, 59-55.
In an exciting fight, lightweight Jonathan Cruz scored a knockout over Jovan Perez. Both fighters tasted the canvas in round one. In round two Cruz landed a right hook to Perez’ kidney knocking him down and out of the fight.
