MANILA —- Denver Baden of the Highland Gym made a smashing debut in the WMF Philippines Muaythai Ultimate Test (MUT) held Sunday at the Victory Central Mall in Caloocan City.

The 25-year old Baden, a native of La Trinidad, Benguet used his boxing skills to stop Heinrich James Bejan of RRRC Fitness Gym via a technical knockout in the second round.

It was Baden’s 15th straight win in a Muaythai or kickboxing match.

“Medyo, nanibago pa ako sa first round kasi ang huli kong laban ay 2015 pa,” said the soft-spoken Baden.

Baden eluded a kick by his opponent at the start of the first round and countered it with his left and right hooks.

In the second round, Baden connected a solid right hook to the face of Bejan forcing referee Noli Basig to stop the scheduled 3-rounder match.

Baden is also an instructor of the MP Highland Gym in Morayta St. (fronting FEU Gym) and at the Highland Takeover Gym at the 10th floor of 1557 Fugoso St. corner Tomas Mapua St. in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The 13th edition of the MUT was organized by WMF Phil Kamao and sponsored by the Victory Central Mall, Payantog Sport (Official equipment of MUT Series), Jian Axel Sisig Station, Elorde Fight Camp Bulacan, Deckman Sea Expert, Hallohallo Mall, Triskelion Council South Caloocan, Powcast Sport and Expose Newspaper and Fightnewsasia.com.

In the main event, Jonathan Pardo of WMF Phil. Kamao/Elorde Fight Camp in Bulacan also scored a 2nd round TKO win against Albert Campilah of Team Taurus MMA gym.

Pardo used his powerful kicks against the boxing style of Campilah, who was already gasping for his breath in the second round.

“The event also served as the screening for potential fighters to represent the country in the annual World Championships held in Bangkok Thailand,” said promoter Gerald Basig, secretary general of WMF.

Also present was WMF Phils. President Brico Santig.
