Cataraja and Bacolod victorious.

Unbeaten world-ranked Cebuano warriors KJ Cataraja and Christian Bacolod secured crushing knockout wins during the entertaining ALA Promotions’ Bakbakan Sa Passi Friday, July 26, at the Passi City Arena in Iloilo Province.

In the main event, WBO # 11 super flyweight KJ Cataraja of the ALA Gym pummeled and rocked out in three chapters unheralded Bukidnon combatant Delfin de Asis (9-8, 6 KO’s), advancing his fighting career and improving his standing in the 115-pounds world-rankings.

From the getgo, the taller Cataraja was by far the superior warrior, delivering damaging blows from his orthodox stance.

None of the boxers ever visited the canvas, however during the action of round three referee Dan Nietes stopped the fighting to give boxer De Asis a standing eight-second count.

The battle ended seconds later when De Asis gave his back to his opponent, as it can be seen in the bellow video.    Official time of stoppage was 1:30 in round three.

Born in Tabuelan, northern Cebu, KJ Cataraja, 24, is the reigning WBO Youth titlist in the weight-class were the champion in Japanese four-division world champion star Kazuto Ioka (24-2, 14 KO’s).

CO-FEATURE:  BACOLOD DESTROYS ROJO WITH LEFT HOOK TO THE LIVER

In the co-feature, WBO # 13, WBC # 37 Light Flyweight Christian Bacolod (11-0, 8 KO’s) from Bantayan Island in northern Cebu City, wearing in his trunk the colors red, white and green of the Mexican flag, mercilessly attacked and crushed brave Boholano Garry Rojo (9-13-1, 5 KO’s) to score a devastating round two TKO victory, keeping his undefeated record untouched.

One huge left hook sent by Bacolod into Rojo’s liver did the total damage, dropping Rojo in obvious pain in a neutral corner, the third man was Rex Ferrer reaching the count of ten.

The hard-hitting Christian Bacolod, 24, looked confident, effective and strong as he keeps ascending in the world-ratings in the hot and fast division where the new WBO king and ruler is Mexican puncher Elwin “La Pulga” Soto (15-1, 11 KO’s).

FILIPINO-JAPANESE HOSAKA ROCKS FOE

In lightweights, Filipino-Japanese southpaw Go Hosaka (3-0, 2 KO’s) of San Fernando, La Union, sporting in his fighting trunks the national flags of Japan and the Philippines, recorded a round four TKO win over unheralded 28-year-old “Daredevil” Romnick Magos (10-10, 4 KO’s) of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

The battle ended due to a dangerous cut on Magos’ right eye, forcing referee Dan Nietes to waive fight off on advise from the GAB doctor.   Official time of stoppage was 2:51 in frame four.
