WBO #11 rated super featherweight Carlos “Fino” Ruiz (15-2-1, 5 KOs) and Sebastian Diaz (12-2-1, 10 KOs) battled to a controversial ten round draw on Friday at the Plaza Condesa Auditorium in Mexico City. Diaz seemed to have the upper hand, but hometown hero Ruiz, aided by a non-knockdown call by the referee in round three, managed to pull out a draw. Scores were 97-93 for Diaz, 96-94 for Ruiz and 95-95.
In the co-feature, jr welterweight Luis Alberto “Ciclon” Huilot (9-5-1, 3 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Joel “Jooe” Montes de Oca (20-7, 10 KOs). Scores were 58-57, 58-56, 58-56.
