The World Boxing Council middleweight champion, Mexican Saul ‘Canelo Alvarez received the National Sports Award 2018 in Mexico, in the category of Professional Sportsman, for defeating Gennady Golovkin and conquering the world crown.
“As a Mexican, I am very proud to have won this prestigious award dedicated to sports,” said Canelo, ensconced in his training camp in California.
“It is a great responsibility as an athlete to have been recognized by CONADE (National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport) and its leaders. I fully understand what this award requires and that is why I will continue to put the name of Mexico on top. ”
On December 15, “Canelo” will rise to super middleweight division to face Rocky Fielding at Madison Square Garden in New York.
